Current mood: restless
Category: Life
A storm started up around dusk, rain, wind and some kickin' lightning. It was a regular fireworks show. We were at the neighbors for a while around that time and decided hanging out on their patio, near the pool and the metal structure for the pool enclosure - not the brightest thing we could be do. (But hanging with the neighbors and some of their friends that was fun.)
But watching the lightning was amazing, it wasn't the kind I'm used to seeing in FL quite as much, it was hard to tell at times where or how it was striking. Let me explain, there were some strikes that were obvious cloud to ground in the distance, but some were farther away and it seemed the way they lit the sky that there could be some sheet lightning (cloud to cloud) too which I'm more accustomed to seeing out West when the heat lightning starts up. That night the lightening also seemed brighter and much of it seemed a blue-ish white color rather than the typical yellowish color.
Well as I said we moved indoors at our neighbors house, but James had to work the next day so we didn't stay all that long. Once we were home we got the dogs calmed down and we got ready for bed, etc., the storm was still raging. The rain and wind seemed even stronger then but it was late so we did try to go to sleep (James was almost immediately successful.) I had a difficult time doing this though since I enjoy storms, normally I'd pull open the blinds on the sliding glass door and just watch the show. But the storm outside this time seemed to hold such fury, it was so bright and the strikes were so frequent you could have imagined a strobe light was on at times.
I just lay there for the longest time watching the flicker of lightening through the blinds, I'd see the light, and count till I heard the thunder, figuring the distance from the strike. It was a good night and a great storm. I eventually did fall asleep, I don't know about you but I sleep great when it's raining and storming outside. The wonderful part about this is that our dogs have formed a pattern that they stress during the storms but if someone is laying down or sleeping the dogs chill out entirely and are great.
Well I know I've blogged about storms and lightning before but I just had to describe this storm.
See you later allig8tors.
