My goal right now is to be the healthiest I can be so that this little baby boy grows healthy and strong. I'm sort of amazed at what pregnancy is like. The first trimester I had my share of hours and days of feeling just blah and ick, I wasn't super sick. I had a few times of being sick but it could have been worse so I felt lucky. Now well into my second trimester I feel really good, once I started to feel better though I started to think even more about nutrition.
So my amazement at my last OB appt. (19 weeks) my weight only changed by two pounds. Prior to that my weight had not changed a bit. I am eating, I'm conscious of the food groups and getting all the groups covered plus plenty of protein, calcium and I take prenatal vitamins. I eat small (because I fill up quick) meals every few hours and I try to not eat after say 8pm (because I do get heartburn regardless) so I'm not trying to lay down and sleep on a full stomache.
I am amazed each week at the changes that my body is going through, when I started seeing a little belly forming due to pregnancy - to now where I have a bit more baby belly and it seems more solid and rounding now. I kind of like it. I feel good, I'm happy and this might sound strange but I like how I look in photos more now than I have for a while. Now if I have a photo and my shirt doesn't hang a certain way and shows some belly there's a really special reason. Pregnant can be cute.
Of course I wonder how the rest of the second trimester will go and what the third will be like but I have a positive outlook there should be plenty of fun and happy moments still to come.
